About the Scientist

home sweat homeMy name is Mr. Daniel Dietz. Originally from Philadelphia, PA I strive to provide a competative high rigor eduction for all of my students. I enjoy experimentation as a hobby. Hydroponics, pneumatics, and lasers are just a few areas in which I have tinkered. Please check out my latest project: The Bio-Diesel Initiative.

Air Cannon-
Lock and load! Phome sweat homeneumatic devices have always intrigued me. I have built several air cannons over the past few years, including one for Neshaminy High School. Air cannons are fun toys; easily launching potatoes and other biodegradable projectiles over 700 ft (horz). When I built my first air cannon in high school and used kinematic equations to predict impact distances, I was amazed at how much air resistance affects the flight of projectiles. I now realize the valuable lessons in air resistance, gas laws, and friction that air cannons can teach in a classroom environment. They are also great for teaching basic circuit design in physics.

CO2 Laser-
Mhome sweat homey younger brother first got me interested in CO2 lasers my freshman year of collage. Since then I've worked with him in building a closed end manometer, vacuum pump, water cooling system, and high voltage supply for a CO2 laser. The last piece of the puzzle still to be figured out is the optics.

'Other' Interests-
Ohome sweat homef course my students generally want to know what I do other than "science" stuff, so to answer that question briefly: I spend my free time with my fiancee Kirsten. She is originally from Kansas City, Mo and is currently a Junior in college at Bob Jones University studying Graphic Design. (And yes I think she's cute, hot, etc.... so stop asking!)

I have a few other hobbies that include woodworking, pottery, computers, hiking, and rock climbing... just to name a few.
